New Smaller Bears

The bears seem to have been getting larger and I am often asked if I will revive smaller designs like "Phatzoh". I am not too keen on going back without refreshing the ideas so I have been working on an slightly evolved Phatzoh and have a new bear which is around 14 inches. I have stuck with the double neck joint and he will appear in various guises over coming months. Edward and Bryan are the first and I have had fun with shades of blue for Bryan. The original Phatzoh pattern was a little shorter but I have decided to revise the proportions a little, he has the same well filled stomach and carefully shaped limbs and now he will both sit and stand quite comfortably. I have a very limited supply of the vintage boot buttons so some bears will have black glass eyes now, unless I am lucky enough to track down more of the lovely small vintage buttons.

Getting back into normal routine again after the Hugglets bear show, I always enjoy them but I like to have a few easy days to recover. I am so glad I persisted with the little black bear, I wasn't sure if I would ever find a face in all the fur but he actually turned out rather lovely and his wayward shaggy look reminds me very much of my older Newfie.

I am struggling to finish a black bear at the moment, this time I have decided that every part is completely black, no contrast patches and fully black sewn nose so I am having the usual trouble seeing where I am going. The daylight has nearly gone for today and think I must try get the nose sewn before I resort to the "daylight" lamp.
