Gallery of Watercolour Pictures available

This is my first gallery of pictures for sale.   For this selection I have chosen small depictions of Gaspard,  my Basset Griffon Vendeen.

I have quoted exact dimensions with each but they all come with an A4 pre-cut matte.  They are priced individually.

There is some line drawing using a document quality permanent ink and the colour is from premium ranges using fade resistant pigments and some natural minerals. They are on Arches cotton 600 gsm cotton paper.

I will be exploring other subjects but I thought these characterful illustrations of Gaspard would be an appropriate start.  I like to use quite strong colours and some of the mineral based paints have quite strong texture and sheen to them which doesn't really show in the photographs.

I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed reviving my painting activities after a "short" break of some 40 years.

Gideon - New Smaller Classic Teddy Bear

Gideon is a traditional five joint teddy bear.  The third bear this year and this time a little smaller at just over 14 inches tall.

He is made from a short yellowish corn colour mohair on a darker cloth.  I have given the fur a fatigued finish, some thinned areas and some matting to give it a care worn appearance.  The wool felt paw pads are very slightly shaded so that they don't look too new and the nose embroidery is similarly lightly fatigued.

Gideon is fully filled with excelsior wood wool, left a little loose in some areas to add to the effect of an old bear,  care worn but not excessively.  He has vintage boot button eyes.

His waistcoat is made from English wool tweed with five buttons.  Lining and back are cotton. It is individually tailored to fit Gideon and edge stitched by hand to neaten the outline of the tweed.  The cravat neck tie is very long enabling a number of different knots but it is supposed to look very crumpled and casual whatever the style.  Keep scrolling after the following details to see more pictures of Gideon.

Peregrine Classic Teddy Bear

 Peregrine is a new larger sized classic Teddy Bear

A new pattern for the first bear of 2025. I wanted to revise the proportions and create a very traditional looking bear, and in order to give him the feel and presence of a larger old ted decided that I would increase the size to 22 inches.

Description:-

Seated 14.5 inches ( 37 cms)

Standing 22 inches ( 55 pms)

Weight 40 ons ( 1.15kg)

Peregrine is made from a pale corn colour mohair.  The finish is soft, quite dense, and very lightly distressed.

Eyes are vintage boot buttons,  paws made from cotton lined wool felt.

Peregrine has traditional black embroidered nose and claw detail, the nose thread is very slightly distressed to compliment the overall appearance.

A feature of these bears which is very important to me is the weight and feel; he is stuffed with excelsior wood wool, firm in some places but also with looser areas softened with natural wool fibre, a little loose filled around joint areas so that he has some give and that distinctive "crunchy" feel of an old bear who's stuffing has settled a little over the years.

He has a traditional tilt growl voice mechanism.

His waistcoat is English wool herringbone, with a little design feature of a fish tail back, buttons are natural shell and the scarf, tied as a loose Ascot, is cotton print.
